Air Source Heat Pumps

Modern heat pumps deliver useful heat to −25°C, then cool the house in July without a second piece of equipment. We install primary, dual-fuel, and backup configurations across the Ottawa region.

A heat pump moves heat instead of generating it, and at Ottawa winter temperatures the math still works. Today's cold-climate units pull useful heat from outdoor air at −25°C and below. For most clients the right answer is a dual-fuel install: heat pump as primary, gas furnace as backup for the coldest two weeks of the year.

We size every heat pump with a Manual J load calculation. Oversized heat pumps short-cycle, undersized ones never catch comfort and run your hydro bill up. Sizing correctly is the most important decision on a heat pump install.

Heat pumps pair naturally with furnace installation in dual-fuel setups and with maintenance plans to keep them running clean through year ten. Eligible for federal Greener Homes Loan funding and Enbridge HER+ rebates.

Serving Ottawa, Orleans, Kanata, and Barrhaven. Same-day diagnostic visits across the priority belt.

Questions

Heat Pumps, asked.

Yes, with the right equipment. Modern cold-climate heat pumps maintain rated capacity to −15°C and continue producing useful heat below −25°C. Most installs in our climate use a dual-fuel setup with a gas furnace as backup for the coldest weeks.
